My whole life I’ve used 3 things, now muzzleloader and my 870. Looking to possibly get something different for next year gun season. Your guys opinions on what’s best? Need to be legal on public and probably below $800

350 Legend should fit the bill for a cartridge. If you want a packaged rifle / scope combo, the Savage 110 Apex Hunter is not too shabby.

Need to be legal on public and probably below $800 IF you already own a 357 mag or a 44 mag, I'd recommend a matching rifle. If not, I'd suggest a 44 mag. I own and have killed deer with both and the 44 is my go to gun. It pretty well matches up with my 45 cal Hawken for trajectory and deer killing power. Mine is an HR single shot and I've never needed a second shot. It isn't a 12 gauge but it does shoot flatter and more accurately.

Look at CVA Cascade in 450BM. Dang near best trigger for the money. One MOA guarantee. My boss has 4 in different calibers, and I must say, ALL are phenomenal. I've shot each one, and all are primo.

I'd look for an AR-15 in 450 BM. That way you have the lower, and you can add a whole lot more uppers to the collection. .223 for varmints. 6.5 Grendel for private land deer, 25-45 Sharps is another one that is legal for deer in Indiana on private ground and fits in an AR upper, etc. etc.

CVA cascade 350 legend Soft recoil, supreme accuracy, cheaper ammo than 450, perfect power for whitetails. If you can, don't get the model that comes with the scope though. I picked one up at walmart that came with a cheap Konus scope and the internals literally fell apart. I've got a good scope mounted up there now though, and my bullets are touching at 100 yards. www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uo44S4ys0EM&t=419s
