smokepole, I am not familiar with the Norman area, so I can't tell you whether or not hogs exist there. What I can tell you is that if the rumors are true, you will waste a lot of time looking for and hunting them. They are not one of the easiest animals to track down.

Smokepole, the rumors are true. They are around Norman. I have a buddy that has killed some near Pinhook (Bedford area) too. They are moving up the White river and its tributaries. I have seen some as far North as New Hope in Owen county. They are elusive though. Good luck.

The hogs are thick down around Lawrenceport (public access area, white river near mitchell). I catfish at this spot in the white with a friend in the summer. You can hear them at night. Nothing spookier than those hogs screaming. THe river is a natural corridor for them to move along. The people down there weren't really talkative about them when asked. Usually would deny their existence. But they are there.

Supposedly a game farm went out of business a few years back and the guy turned the russian boars loose. Sounds feasible.

Awesome. I was hoping a little population with spring up in this state eventually... I like the idea also. The only thing that worries me is that, ecologically speaking, hogs are pretty rough on local resources. I will guaruntee that there won't be a shortage of "hog control" volunteers though.

Yes there are feral pigs in the Norman area. How many of you guys are old enough to remember when it was Norman Station the railroad stop?

I wouldn't doubt that there are some around the Norman area. We have killed a good number of wild hogs in the Leesville area, not far from the...lets say "release point". Wehave also captured a good number of babies, so the spreading of the hogs could be very easlily done.

I love eating wild hogs. To have a Hoosier wild boar on my wall would be a great bonus as well!

Just a update over the past weekend we did confirm that there are indeed hogs... We located several spots that had very recent hog laydown's in a nearby corn field.. Looked like a tornado went threw it... Also stunk to high heaven... HOGS FOR SURE!

So you need hunters to assist in the removal, right?
I'm in, and I'm sure my father is too!

Are the hunting and bag limit regs in the Hunting regs? Doubtful since they`re not widely known about. Would this mean they`d simply be free for the taking?
