Just wondering if any of you warrick co guys knew if the mine ground up there was ever going to be opened back up? havent been up there this year but I know last year there were still alot of guys hunting up there that had keys to the gates. I was told earlier this year it was bought by Realtree and some other folks for private hunting ground but theres always rumors going around. Never did much hunting up there but would sure like to fish there again someday...

I don't know about Tecumseh..
There has been a group had the east end tied up for quiet some time.
I believe they are going to turn it into a youth outdoor education center that includes hunting and fishing.
I know that waterfowlers are hunting the big lake as I hear the boom..boom...boom when I'm deer hunting..

I wish the state would try to buy that whole area or at least lease it like Kentucky does. ATV and fourwheel drive damage got the last parts closed to hunting. It's a game rich area, it's a shame that it's only available to a priviledged few.

Last I heard it was either going to become a pay/youth hunting area or be mined again starting in 2007 by Black Beauty.

it will be mined again and it will happen a little sooner than that they are getting ready to put the motors in the big bucket sitting on eby road in the next few months ...

As I understand it the whole area east of hwy 61 is off limits. Last year you could hunt it if you were on foot. Supposedly Peabody lost some bond money because of damage done by off road 4 wheeldrive and ATV drivers so it is now closed to everybody. I haven't been up there in a while is Eby road open? For what it's worth I used to operate that dragline occasionally.

None in Tecumseh. One close that morning and four the following morning further north. Got another one a couple of days after that.

We hunt both, but all the coyotes have been spotted in the daylight. We managed a couple of foxes the other night. Plus my great miss at 60 yards.

yeah Woody, it was with my bow. ;D The .22-250 model. About the closest I have ever called a red and I blew it. BADLY!! Neadless to say, after I realized that I had missed, there wasn't much time for a second shot. I never thought I was going to miss at that distance, so I really didn't pay much attention till my buddy told me to, "look at him go!!" Oh well, somebody has to educate the dumb one's

BigA- Where I live we've got fox every where, I shot one with my bow last year and could have killed a couple more while squirrel hunting. Mostly reds although I did see my first grey ever last year just up the road.

There seems to be quite a few foxes this year and the last couple. I am wondering if they are just coming into calls a little easier, since I hear the rabbit population is way down this year.
