Activity will probably pick up this afternoon before rain begins tonight. I will be clearing the gutters of the widow across the street and getting my trailer back into shape this afternoon. I am off Friday, but it is now calling for 90% chance of rain. Don't think I'll hunt. Blood is hard enough to find being colorblind. Would be impossible for me to find it with everything wet and washing it away, too. Maybe I'll go fishing if it isn't a very hard rain. Fishing in November....some of best fishing I've ever done. I plan to hit the river. Sauger fishing is good this time of the year.

1732 I put one through a doe.....more too follow So here it is. Sitting in the stand, very warm and listening to deer cruise in the crp refusing to be lured by a bleat. I hear some steps behind me. In exactly the same spot behind me as the doe that got me yesterday. Fool me once.. .. I slightly turn that way and caught brown coming. She walked under me, directly away and then stopped at 21 yds. I had plenty of time to set up. She turned quartering away and I squeezed the centerpoint trigger and WHACK!!! I'm using my buddy's rig and his bolt carries Schwackers and sweet baby Jeebus it blew the heart up!! She went maybe 25 yds after....the "blood trail" was a literal red carpet. Awesome!!! Well done! Sounds like an awesome shot!

Have you ever measured the noise level it’s at now? An average .308 suppressor will drop the decibel level down to around 130 dB. OSHA considers hearing damage from impulse noise to be 140 dB and above. My particular.308 suppressor knocks 30 dB off versus unsuppressed. Compare that to various earplugs and muffs to get a good comparison of noise reduction. Don’t get me wrong I love suppressors, but for hunting I like the sound keeps the neighbors guessing! Loud and proud 😃

Hi all.. longtime member. Haven’t posted in awhile. Here in Grant county it has been without a doubt the strangest November ever. The week of Halloween big boys were starting to move.. then, boom.. they vanished. Instead of separating, most does seemed to stay in groups. Fast forward to yesterday the 16th.. the FIRST hard chasing I’ve seen this year.. Now, I’m sure they’ve been chasing but this was the first I witnessed.. 3 bucks, two small guys and a decent 8 were harassing a grouped up herd of 8 does for half an hour. Quite the show but the biggest bucks we’ve seen are still mia. Both on tactacams and in person. Corn has been coming down finally but 100% believe the trickle rut theory. Good luck to all tomm! God bless and stay safe!!

I'm getting about every night a tall decent buck on camera cutting across the side field, but I don't have any during the day. Now the does this week normal patterned has changed so that's a good sign. It seems the does are finally hiding from the bucks to avoid the chasing. So late this year.

Sat the rain out this morning. I’ll be out after it passes for one last chance before the Orange army invades.

Since I own a insurance agency I keep claim records on deer/vehicle accidents for our office. Last 10 years we have averaged approx. 15 claims involving deer per Month of November. (As of today we have had 1 reported.) We service Ripley, Switzerland, Dearborn and Ohio counties. Good for business , just a stat that shows not normal deer movement here locally, or deer are getting smarter.....lol

I posted back at the near end of October I heard on M-F traffic report one deer call accident and posted it's time to hit the woods. It has been zero since then.

Don Higgins rut update says Saturday will be the best day we have had to hunt all of November . Temps and pressure align for rut activity.

Another thing that your info screams to me is that our deer herd numbers are down overall in those counties!

Going to be taking my boys out for the gun opener on Saturday. My oldest has been with me on a deer hunt from a ground blind once last year. My other boy hasn’t ever been on a deer hunt with me. They are 8 and 6. We will be sitting in a double stand on the edge of the CRP field. From the looks of it, supposed to be pretty chilly in the morning (32 in the morning). Does anyone have any tips for keeping the youngins warm? They will obviously both be layered up with snow clothes on and I will probably pack as many hot hands as I can, but didn’t know if anyone had any extra tips. If anyone has any, they’d be much appreciated. Believe it or not, if you can put each in a sleeping bag it will help keep feet and hands warm. The heat they generate stays in the bag and keeps thier shoes warm which helps keep thier feet warm and keeps thier coat warm to put hands in. If thier head gets cold can pull bag up around head and utilize the stored heat in the bag. A lot of times your feet get cold because your shoes get cold Good luck Onebentarrow I see your buddy has his pop up camper set up for hunting this weekend will you be hunting with him?

Climbed up my stand at 1:00 and looked down the field edge and see a deer headed my way. When he got closer I could tell it was a young 8. He’s bedded somewhere behind me about 60-70 yds.

Just got back from taking my climber to the woods just in case my daughter backs out tomorrow morning. This is her second season and it's all about her. I am more excited about gun season than I have been in years (except last year) I haven't killed anything yet, but I have got my share in the past. If the day comes that I'm not excited, I'm having a big sale!
