Same tree as yesterday. Same conditions, with the exception of the temperature being 8-10 degrees warmer. Had lots of action here yesterday, but dead so far today. I had my first visitor yesterday 20 minutes before now. I guess we'll see.

Just had a spike come in. He had one broken off antler. He was grunting and licking, trying to catch the scent of love. I can see 4 deer out across the field and it seems I’m being invaded by the UCSP (United communist squirrel party). UCSP- Thats great

About 3:00 (CST) I had this buck and another busted up buck chasing a doe all along the ridge top and down both sides. This went on for about 20 minutes. They finally went away from me and the woods went silent. No more grunting or crunching leaves. As I was trying to settle myself down from all the chaos. I heard some light foot steps coming my way. Out popped the doe going straight to my horizontal rub. The busted up buck came through behind her but, giving her a wide birth. I knew the 8 point had to be popping up any second. I heard a grunt and went ahead and settled in behind the crossbow. Just as I did, he stepped around the corner. I yelled "HEY" as I was setting the pin on his shoulder. He stopped and I squeezed the trigger. The lighted knock failed to light. I couldn't see the impact and immediately got a sick, nervous feeling in my gut. The buck lunged forward at the shot and turned after he passed a downed tree. I waited 25 minutes and just had to go check the impact sight. Found the bolt immediately and was very happy to see it soaked. I said a prayer asking for help in the recovery. I have backed out, called a couple buddies and went to my truck to off load my gear. We began tracking immediately and soon as we round the downed tree, white belly laying there at 40 yards. I couldn't be happier! Time to rest up and go see the Dr. about this pesky heart issue. Thanks for all the congrats! Congratulations to all the other successful hunters! Good luck everyone else! Hunt safe and God bless! Congrats, will you now go get that ticker looked at please? I'm going in this week 👍

Large doe right directly under me behind me tree. She's been under 20 yards for 15 minutes now. You guys will laugh, but I had the crossbow's safety off and actually prayed to God to give me the will power to NOT shoot her. I have since put the safety on and set the crossbow back down, so it worked. I've enjoyed watching her rub her face on things and nibble on browse. I'm pretty sure she's the same lone doe that bedded above me yesterday.

Looks like I’ll be hunting Big Oaks tomorrow. Had to go scrounging around looking for my rifle ammo. Well. I didn’t see any deer but my brother did. He saw a spike a ?? Running and 3 doe Come to find out they did a burn in our area last week. There were still hotspots. Actually 7 from my stand 6 within 50 yds. Made for great cover scent and smelled really good. Couple of those hotspots lit back up a few times. This was behind me less then 10 yds And this one in front of me to my left at 40 yds Very interesting watching little fires start up and recede around you while in a tree. If I had to do it over again I’d probably chose a different area. But my brother saw the deer……
