Well things came together this AM. Was watching 2 does feed in the persimmons when a forkhorn came by chasing another doe. While watching those deer I heard another walking, turned to me left and this guy came walking in. Figured he would continue his path for a broadside shot but nope, he turned and walked right at me. Adrenaline then kicked in as this was the one I had on camera a few times. I drew as he walked through a few saplings and when he stepped into the clearing....he stopped and looked straight up at me. I'm no William Tell but did feel confident with a 15 yard, quartering to me shot. Pass through shot and he went about 100 yards. Not text book but I'd just as soon be lucky as good. Feel awfully blessed. Thank the good Lord too for my Belgian horse son (6'6 260) for helping me get him out and loaded.

It's hard to tell on my phone (pics don't enlarge), but do I spy G5's on both sides?

Got my reduction zone buckk at 7:15 this morning. I was surprised how far he went. About 150 yards and blood everywhere. Well done! He's a great buck!

Man what a day! Congrats guys. 30 min ago I seen a small buck dogging a doe. Then 15 min later a target buck came crushing in real fast and up a hill, I started grunting and he sort of turned around, out of no where a big 6 I’ve been eyeing for a few years now came running in. Never gave a shot and off towards the big target buck he went and they ran off. Glad I decided to pull an all day sit today

I went squirrel hunting (none came home with me) and sat in a ladder stand that the owners have had on the property for years. In a tick area that has views into open woods. Got settled around 11. The squirrels weren't that active (overall had three fox squirrels about 40-50 yards out; then three grays within range but they either were under brush or moved when I tried to get ready to shoot, the third one I got two shots off at but it ran off, think I either missed it or hit it in the guts), but the birds were a bit busy and even saw a chipmunk. Well I'm sitting there watching the squirrels when I hear crunching coming towards me from the right. Turn and see a deer body, ends up being a smallish 7 pt who walks directly under me and stays for a few minutes smelling where I walked in. He wasn't nervous at all, which was a good sign. He walked off into the thick stuff on the left. Meanwhile one of the grays starts chewing on a branch behind me. I try to get situated to take the squirrel, but squirrel moves to the ground and eats where I can't see. So I wait to see if the squirrel will show itself again. As I'm waiting, I look ahead and see tines heading my way. This big mature buck stops and smells in the area I walked in about 40 yards in front of the stand. I can tell he's got about 8 points. I still can't see well due to brush. A few minutes later he starts heading my way but I still can't see well because a tree is now in the way. Finally around 30 yards from me he turns and walks to my left. Now I can tell there are four points on the right side and three on the left with some of the tallest brow tines I've ever seen. Got a little excited knowing he was there and because he is by far the biggest 7 pt I have ever seen. What was interesting was that one of the property owners had just told me about a big buck they saw standing on their side of the road on Highway 41 as they left to go someplace, and he pretty well matched the description. So despite not getting anything and not deer hunting, still happy with the hunt. Got back to the car to discover I had gotten "the call" so while I was over that way stopped and picked up my September squirrel from the taxidermist.

Back in Indiana climbing the stand at my house and saw what looked a good buck chasing a doe on the neighbor's property. I must've lost my crossbow crank handle in KY so $40 for another one on Amazon. Cocking it the old fashioned way is a chore. Definitely an eye opener to get the string all the way back and not just past the dry fire catch.

Settled in a little bit late but, I'm here nonetheless.
Good luck, hunt safe and God bless!
