Not indiana, but Ohio. Just got settled into our hotel room. I was drawn for a gun hunt up at Ottawa NWR tomorrow. It's similar to Big Oaks on how it works. We can kill 4 deer a piece. We'll be happy with some freezer queens though. Forecast is looking rough. S/SW winds 10-20mph with gusts to 30.

My season is done in Indiana. Lost count of bucks after 7, small 10 the biggest. Only 1 doe seen but she was the right one. 124 yard shot.

Out for quick, rare work day evening hunt. Sitting over my picked cornfield with bedding on both sides, only the second gun hunt from this stand, they should be on their feet. Good luck and shoot straight! Well, she was on her feet eating corn for 45 minutes, the only one. Friday morning will be my next opportunity to hunt. Rifle season is definitely winding down, but I love muzzleloader season and late archery. The opera is far from over.

This is the second consecutive morning in my woods and seeing nothing move. Not a deer, not a squirrel, not a bluejay, not a chickadee, nothing. It's like there is nobody home. Never experienced this before in 20 years of hunting this property. Maybe the extremely bright full moon last night has something to do with it?

I had more activity on my cameras last night than I had in the past week. All between midnight and 4:00 am.

Saw 12 deer at about 8 this morning after dropping granddaughter off at school. This is more than I have seen anywhere since two days before gun started.

Nothing was moving, not even bugs. It was dead silence. Weirdest thing ever!!

Well. Today I’m hunting a public spot I haven't been to in over 8 years in the HNF My biggest buck came from here but I don’t expect that…..didn’t that day either. lol Anyways brings back memories. Thought I’d try something different since my place seems to have gone dead. Here we go……

Hunting a tree line and big brushy ditch that hasn't been hunted since just before firearms season came in. Sits in between 2 joining fence rows smack dab in the middle of a cut corn field. Everywhere else I hunt and cameras are pretty much dead, it's a beautiful evening let's see what happens.

Back in the blind. Overlooks a power line ROW bordered by forest part of the way and then it crosses a meandering creek bottom that was planted in corn. Always see deer except for the last two mornings. If nothing shows up this evening, they're probably all at your place!

Just saw a mature bald eagle fly into a tall tree, sit there for a while, and then spiral down to the creek bed. I've never seen a bald eagle during a hunt before. Cool!

All I can say about today is BRUTAL. Wind never laid down at all. We still hunted just about all the huntable ground in our unit before we left around 1pm. Seen 1 large buck about 3 mins before legal shooting time. Then 2 doe fawns about 815 am. Sad part is they were at 12 yards, but they were so small. I bet they didn't go 90lbs combined live weight.

Bro in law is on his way for 4 days of hunting...deer ducks or time are scheduled to be killed.
Should be good!
