Unsuccessful draw here also. My dad got a first day draw and a buddy got 2nd day. Here's to hoping I can weasel my way in to hunt with one of them.

My son and I were both unsuccessful. Luckily I know of a few sunflower fields nearby that are looking pretty good.

Well we ended up getting drawn for a hunt in Kentucky. Hopefully it’s a good time. Our first time getting drawn for it.

Ended opening morning with 24. My son limited and ole dad here was out shot again with 9.. Proud dad moment

We just got home. 6 of us got a limit and my daughter with her new 28gauge was able to get 6. very good day and very proud of how she did. Back at it again tomorrow.

How does your daughter like her 28 gauge ? I’ve been thinking about buying one eventually . I mainly use a 16 gauge shotgun for most of my hunting. I do own a 12 gauge shotgun but I love my 16 gauge more. |

How does your daughter like her 28 gauge ? I’ve been thinking about buying one eventually . I mainly use a 16 gauge shotgun for most of my hunting. I do own a 12 gauge shotgun but I love my 16 gauge more. She loves it. Very good on recoil. Shells are pricey but available. It’s a tactical style Mossberg SA-28 semi auto. Came with a turkey choke and I ordered more chokes separately. May get me one too. |

I've been basically shooting 28 ga loads in my 12 ga at Sporting Clays the last few times I went to shoot.

I struggle enough with a 12 ga, I tried shooting skeet with a 20 and got my butt handed to me, my hats off to anyone that can get the job done with a 28!

I should add that while this was initially a turkey gun the rear oval truglo sight (intended to put the turkeys head in) was a huge help for a new shooter. Explaining keeping the front bead in that sight window and keeping her swing through on the birds made it a ton easier on her. Really made aligning a much smoother process.
The very light recoil from the semi auto also kept her from any at the shot flinching. We kept it to one shot at a time.
