Just because he did some good doesn't mean he gets a pass now. If he's guilty, he should be treated like any other person facing the same charges. If that means jail. So be it. No one is advocating for any lesser penalty… but it does seem some want a bigger penalty because who he is though! How about we let the courts decide the penalty for the crime he is found guilty of or pleads guilty to. If you read my post I did just that.

Well, hmmm. He may lose some votes over this. I would have expected a bigger fine but I'm just speculating. The probation seems about right in my opinion. The story told does not paint a very pretty picture. Hopefully he gets his life straightened out in time to save his career whatever that might be going forward.

I agree, I'd say he's owned up to it. He will probably pay in the restitution AND in his career. Not sure how much but it will be costly. Now, if he does it again... Jail time in my opinion.

If Rep Lucas' treatment is comparable to what other people have been given then I have no problem with it. Hopefully he's learned a lesson.
If he does it again, his license should be suspended for life and he should spend some serious time in jail.

I am sure he got the same treatment as any white Christian gets……he didn’t fight the process it seems! Just a typical politician. This time one that shares many of our views. SMH.

Amazing how you can just get away with drug use while driving. Got any information to back up your claim? He took a chemical test I haven’t seen the results… I have seen both (2)bodycam footages it doesn’t show him “Lit”

Is there a reason they/sheriff deputies had to wait for state police to come for processing?

This should trigger the naysayers again…the man had a LEGAL buy/use substance(Delta9)in his body…. As long as a delta 9 product is made from hemp and contains no more than 0.3% THC on a dry-weight basis, it is legal to purchase and consume in the Hoosier State. I do agree this is not a good look for someone in his position… Do better Jim!

But it’s LEGAL to buy,use and possess…you also can’t be convicted on both charges! Only charged! From article… “Charging a person both ways – operating with a controlled substance in their blood and also charging a person with .08 BAC – does not make any difference in the end because a person can only be convicted of one of the these offenses by law.”
