Admittedly, I feel kinda silly for making this post in the first place. But brake fluid, how often do y'all change it? I recently got rid of my 2013 VW Jetta, and for 80K miles and 6 years I've never thought about it or paid any attention to it. My brakes always functioned well and the lines/ABS system never struggled. Now I have a 2021 Bronco Sport and the dealership told me it's due for a flush and change. Everyone I've talked to (other than the dealership) has never touched them. So I guess is this something that's a requirement on new vehicles? Like I said, excuse the stupid question but I truthfully never paid attention to it as there was never an issue and it all checked out.

Ford fix or repair daily
I flush brake lines when they fail. 20 or 30 yr old vehicles

Unless you’re driving a high performance car or racing I wouldn’t get it done…. They’re just looking for away to get your money.
How would you know if the really changed it !

That's what I was thinking... They also wanted $250 to clean the fuel induction system. The dealership also said to replace the trans fluid at 50,000, but went into the manual and it said every 150,000. I've never dealt with this before because I always used our dealership in Richmond, but now that I bought a newer car in Tennessee I'm starting to see where they can take advantage of people.

Your Bronco owners manual has a recommended maintenance schedule in the back. Brake flush will be there not sure on recommended mileage. The flush is to remove contaminants and moisture. Which will shorten the life of abs hydraulic unit that has valves inside to make it work. Contamination can cause the valves to stick resulting in a brake problem you may or may not notice right away.

Biggest thing with brake fluid is when replacing brake pads, is to open the bleeder screw and push the old fluid out when compressing the the piston. Pushing the old burnt fluid back into the system is what you want to avoid. A substantial amount of fluid is replaced in the master cylinder when doing this. This is our maintenance schedule protocol.

We are mostly commercial, some pick ups and Van's. This has been how I've seen it done at any place, and from what I've researched.
Again, manufacturers always pit some time of interval on fluid replacement.

Sounds like an overkill on passenger vehicles I can’t imagine very many folks getting their brakes that hot to burn/boil the brake fluid…..commercial vehicles yes!
I say the average DIY guy maybe lost bleeding the fluid at the bleeder on his POV…..interesting Idea no doubt.

Sounds like a load of B.S. to me. I've honestly never heard of changing brake fluid as part of routine mtc.
I lost all faith and respect for dealer service when Jeff Wyler in Clarksville told me that I needed a "special order" oxygen sensor that would be $350 plus labor. After 5 minutes of research and a call to my brother, turns out that it was a common Bosch sensor stocked at any local auto parts store. I bought the sensor and required wrench. It took longer to drive to town for the supplies than it did to change the sensor.

I’ve done a lot of asking around, all of the car guys I’ve talked to have never done it on their vehicles. Apparently they told my mom the same thing at the Acura dealership a few weeks back. Ford (first on race day) says 3 years.
