Absolute rookie question. I have 2 right now 2 1.5 coilsprings. Going to get several more Monday. Have at least 2 fox killing my chickens. At least one a day. Anyway. Tried to shoot them. They come whenever. Maybe first light, the husky dang near caught one almost noon on Thursday. Shooting isn't an option, I have too much stuff to do. Used a chicken they killed as bait and they tripped the trap today. No idea if the fox tripped it or dragging the dead chicken across did it. Either way...what is a good bait to use for fox. Mind you, no trapping stores nearby so I don't have a store to buy commercial made bait. What can I use that I can buy from grocery store or whatever. And no, I'm not gonna kill a chicken everyday. Curious why they only kill the hens and not the overload of roosters I have

Put one in a small cage, block the approach except the paths where you have your traps.

A lot to try to explain off the keyboard. Now you have trap wise fox to deal with as well. Watch some youtube videos would be my recommendation.

Catch poles. Them youtube videos make it way easier than it seems. At least with raccoons. Them little hands all over that thing. Some times you just gotta say the heck with it and go for it. Swear wasn't scared that that coon wasn't gonna tear my face off. I got it out. I'll title this thread if anyone wants to follow, bumbling through trapping a fox while losing a chicken a day. 😁😁😁 Didn't lose one today. Imagine yesterday trap deterred it today. Hopefully last I have to worry. Reset and we'll see what tomorrow brings

My luck trap will get pooped on and it'll take the chicken.

Well I noticed my hen turkey missing yesterday, she is known to travel around the property. Checked my game camera and had a coyote cruising the area around 8am yesterday. Will get some footholds out tomorrow.

May just let the beagles out in the running pen. Either way, it'll be fun.
