How’s the meat and how would you prepare it? If you saw what the bears what eat you wouldn't go near the meat. My guide said he was skinning one & worms came out of the meat

Well done.. mine wound up mostly as Chili soup.
Mine wasn't bad, just smelled like fish. At first I didn't mind, after a while it became less appealing. The tomato sauce in the chili took the smell out of it.

I love a bear roast, as good as beef. I run all the steaks thru my tenderizer and make oven steak with them. The hamburger plain with no additives I think is almost better than beef. I also make brats, polishes, snack sticks with some. ALL the fat must come off!!
Never got drawn this year, I am up to 4 preference points. Will still try to buy an nonpurchased tag in August.

I’ve killed a couple bears in Ontario many, many years back. I ate some of it but ended up giving most of it away. A friend of mine (Don Lynch) at Alcoa was into the primitive mountain man stuff and I gave him a ham off of one. He took it to a rendezvous. There they put it on a spit and roasted it. As it cooked they would individually slice off a done portion and chow down. They kept roasting and slicing until it was all gone. They liked it a lot.
I had some bear stew on a North Dakota hunting trip. We met some friends from Minnesota there and one of them brought the stew. It was very good.

That was where I went wrong.. I intentionally kept a lot of fat. That's where the fish oil/smell was stored. It was a coastal bear that ate a lot of fish in the fall.

They killed another 7 footer up there yesterday. A work buddy of Woodmaster’s son and granddaughter got it. It was the young lady that actually killed it so I’m not comfortable posting the picture .
Big black bear..

The young lady did good again.
She took a beautiful cinnamon colored bear yesterday. Dad has been sitting with her and she was the gunner. Now it's his turn. Making memories...
