I think a baited hunt would be a lot of fun. My taxidermist has done quite a few of them, I think he likes Saskatchewan.

Woodmaster did good! His bear is the big bear on the left. His hunting partner’s bear is the cinnamon bear in the middle. He never saw a bear the first night, but had bears all around him the second night after he switched stands. He had a couple decent bears that came in but they acted pretty skittish..usually a sign that a bigger bear is around. One of the bears almost did what a bear did last year…he checked out the bottom of the stand ladder. He didn’t try to climb it though. He was watching a bear when it all of a sudden took off running away from the bait. Woodmaster watched as the bigger bear came in and dropped him with his .350 Legend. The bear didn’t go 15 feet before piling up. He is after a second bear now. Either a bigger bear or a good sized ed color phase bear.  |

It'll be tough to find a bigger one than that.. looks like a big old noggin! I'd be curious to hear the skull measurements.

They are skinning it now. He says the guide says it’s is a 400 pound bear. That’s sounds big for spring bear.
They haven’t squared him yet.

The bear squared 7 foot and the skull measured 19 inches.
Woodmaster said the guide was really excited when he picked up the bear and that told Woodmaster it was a special bear for that area.

Woodmaster said his face is scarred.
Blowing the picture up he does have a scarred muzzle. That adds character!
