I have used dogs but prefer the hide and call method got to have a good vantage point where you can see him before he sees you, brush piles near woodlots are great places to hide and call from we actually whacked 2 while turkey hunting this year one stalked in on the decoys and another we stalked accidentally up on while easing through the woods.

I have been hunting coyotes with out dogs for the last 9 year . I have a Johny Stewart CD caller and the last 2 years i have been using mouth call in conjunction with CD caller it works real well average about 15 dogs a year also use decoys once a dog fixes on a decoy they don't look at much else. during mating season i use all invitation , challenge, yelp and locater calls I only use distress during weather that makes it hard to find prey best time is when the ground has been frozen for a long time. coyotes feed about four times a day so you just need to catch them hunting.

no dogs here, just mouth calls and my johnny stewart electronic call. Love coyote hunting the the adrenaline of it. Where are ya located, could possibly get together and do a a morning of hunting if you want. I dont do much of it at night i do all my coyote hunting in the morning as if i were deer hunting seem to have alot better luck and also dont get busted as easy. Unlike at night when you gotta use a light and educate the dogs if they do get away.

I've never intentionally hunted them but have taken out a couple back in the woods-but not nearly enough from the sounds of them most nights!

Did a ton of it last year didnt go around our area hardly at all but as you said from the sounds of it this year were going to have to. We hear them all the time no it seems like. So when i go around the house sometime i get ahold of you. Ill call and you can shoot how bout that. It will probably be after deer season before i start going tho because late january to feb works best because its mating season and you can usually get lucky and call in doubles
