There was a neighborhood yard sale where we live today and I did not know it until the dogs were barking and I noticed the traffic. Apparently you must be active on Facebook to be in the know around here. I'll continue to be ignorant. I would have set that damn Pitt Boss smoker that I hate out, along with a few other large items.
My mother and her three sisters would have a yard sale every year or two and rotate locations. Dad had a strict policy that, if it left the house up for sale, it didn't belong back in the house. No exceptions. If something was only worth $1, then it was better given to charity. He would have a somewhat guilty smile on his face on the Monday following a yard sale as he would take a truck load to the De Paul location in Jasper.

I've never had one before. I think I need to buy a box for the wood chips and maybe some more lava rock for the bottom. I don't think there's enough in it.

The best advice I can give... just think of a smoker as an oven that smokes! Get a decent meat thermometer and cook by meat temp, not a set amount of time. As you get experience, you will know how long things usually take, but weather conditions change that, like wind and cold temps. Mild wood types are your friend. Less is more a lot of times. Cherry, apple, oak, and alder are all light flavors. Hickory and mesquite are stronger. You will have loads of fun! Just read thru the "we be smoking" thread if you dont already. Everybody has a good time and experiences to share.

What deaddeer said and
Soak wood chips with water slows burn get more smoke I believe if that’s is the same one I had you don’t have a choice on temp that’s ok it worked for me for years just cook on the back and slide the lid off a touch on front will give you a longer smoke time without over cooking My preference is preparing your meat the night before with brine or spices and letting it go in refrigerator overnight I also like to pull meat a bit early wrapping in a tinfoil and let it rest in a cooler it will continue to cook
