Have seen the same two gobblers last night and this morning. This morning 6 Jakes ran them off. Wondering if that means it would be best to not have my Jake decoy out.

We used to have good luck with tom decoys. Then trimmed them down to Jake's. Now we have abandoned them completely. Seems like we turned off more and more birds with them. Dont know if they got wise, or see more and more skeptical sets, but they are completely out of our sets now. Hens or nuttin anymore for us. I'd say try without. You got nothing to lose.

Experiment. On the youth hunt I put 2 hen decoys out for my nephew. The bird he killed had a bigger bird with a smaller beard with him. They both tried to mount the decoys, the bigger bodies Tom kept running off my nephew’s bird, which he eventually shot. Yesterday I put the hen decoys out again for me. The same big bodied Tom came back but was wary of my decoys only getting within 65 yds but stayed out for over 2 hours. Last night I took my son out and we decided to change things up. I took the hen decoy that looks like she’s looking around and instead of using the spike to put her in the ground I laid her straight in the ground and put a few pieces of wood around her bottom of her body to keep her upright. I then took my jake decoy and stuck it directly behind her looking like he’s practically standing on her. When my sons bird saw that last night just a few yelps and he came running. My sons first shot was probably 3 yds and he missed because the pattern was so tight. Second shot was probably 27ish yds and connected. So I say experiment around. Never use more than one jake decoy and make them look real. Like the thing I did above. If I was in your position I’d do what I did for my son last night. As a matter of fact today I’m out and I never did put my dekes out as I don’t want to over use them.

Change it up,turkeys are turkeys, they don’t even know what they’re going to do until they do it. What scares on off will bring the next one in looking for a fight.

I’ve always used an Avian X 1/4 strut Jake and an Avian X Feeder Hen.
I ‘ve only and once instance (that I know of) where the gobbler didn’t come in after he saw the decoys. That was last year when he turned sideways at 55 yards to walk into some pines instead of coming in. My grandson shot and missed him.
Woodmaster had one that shied away from his stuffer. He didn’t shy away far enough and Woodmaster dropped him. When he picked him up he saw he had quite a spur gash in his breast. We guess he wasn’t in the mood to fight anymore.
I’ve seen Jake thug gangs of three or more that put the fear in some long beards. I’ve never seen a long beard back down from a single Jake….except Woodmaster’s encounter.

Gobbler in the field last night and I thought it might happen until the 6 amigos saw him from like 250 yards and chased him off.

Those 6 jake thugs need a lesson. Look at it this way though. They will be next years gobbler and maybe a few after that.

I think I actually have a Jake fan in the freezer that's been there for a long time.
