if you have life time license are you covered for elk in IN.?

IF elk ever become a legal game animal in Indiana then the lifetime license covers them. h.h.

Elk are not legally considered game animals in Indiana since they are classed as a "non-native" species , you can hunt them at any time of year with any legal weapon . That's the reply I got from IDNR , it's the same answer they gave when I asked about hunting feral pigs and other varmints . Elk haven't been native to this state for over 100 years due to overhunting in the past .
The only caveat that I can think of is that since they would be classed as "escaped livestock" there might be a legal issue there .

I have been seeing a fallow buck here in Starke county he will make fine venison If I ever see him some place I can legaly and ethicly discharge a firearm, I was also told non-native and unprotected from my local CO

From what I understand, there was a buffalo shot near me recently. As I understand it, the buffalo had been getting out for a few years, and the farm owner had finally had enough. He told a guy that if he could track it down and shoot it, the buffalo was his (the shooter's). He got it...
I too am waiting for an elk to get out and wander across my land. I live within 1 1/2 miles from one elk farm and probably within 5-6 miles of another farm. The buffalo farm is within 2-3 miles from me...
