Does this count as your one and only state spring bird?

That’s the way I always took it to be…..They aren’t reductions hunt like some deer draws are.

Does this count as your one and only state spring bird? That's exactly what I was wondering.

I have a decent bird population on my permission pieces. But, if I had the opportunity to harvest a second bird, I would definitely put in for some of these draw hunts.

It is your one state bird and the FWAs close hunting at one. At least on eastern time. I’ve taken one at Fairbanks during a drawing.

I don’t have any private land opportunities, so this is my shot to get a bird opening week. If I don’t do it at Crosley, then I have to do the public land shuffle and probably end up eating tag soup again.

You could always go back to Crosley after the first 5 days it opens to public hunting … anyone can go!

Most of the draws are 1/2 day hunts from my understanding…….I don’t believe it’s a extra bird also I was just speaking to a conservation friend of mine. He did confirm what you already stated that the draw hunts are not extra birds. That being the case, me personally and speaking only for myself, I wouldn't feel right about putting in for a draw hunt. Especially since these hunts could really be the only great chance some people, that don't have the access I have, have at getting a bird.

I was joking with the staff at Roush Lake and said I thought of coming down opening day for the no-show draw. THey said there were a couple of of guys that did not make it.
Thank you. My feelings unless you shot your gobbler somewhere else missing / skipping a draw hunt should send your next couple years draws to cyber space.

I can't seem to get drawn for anything I sign up for. I got in on my local fwa on no show draws every day I went last season. Some days there were 10+ open slots for the no show when they only allow 15ppl per day. Why sign-up if you aren't 100% sure you will be hunting that day! Public land is all I have so I have to take what I can get when I can get it.

My son, son-in-law, neighbor and I were selected for LBL (4/15-16), hoping for better results than the last time. All I harvested were ticks!
