That’s interesting for sure, but not sure that’s really something that needs added to a decoy collection. I’m sure plenty will gobble that up and see how it works. I just don’t see the need.

The turkeys on my permission piece are sponsored by DSD and Sitka Gear. Therefore they can only strut into DSD decoys and be shot by hunters wearing Sitka Gear. It's a contract thing. Expensive way to hunt but, rules are rules.
All kidding aside, the DSD decoys are super impressive. However, not within my budget.

I've never used a decoy before but considering it for funsies. Has anyone ever been busted with them? I know they always work in hunting videos (like everything else people are paid to promote) but was just curious as to everyone's experience.

To me it all depends on the turkeys mood that particular day. I’ve had them be hesitant and skirt around the decoys and I’ve also had them run in like their tail was on fire. This could be any single or combo of decoys to include hens, Jake, and strutter.

All I use is a 1/4 strut Jake and feeding hen by Avian X.
I’ve only had one time (that I know of) where a gobbler shied away from the set. This was last season as a hen and a Longbeard was approaching from the south end of my food plot. About 55 yards he dropped his strut and started veering off the food plot into the pine thicket. Grandson shot but missed.
Since his hen was in our decoys at the time the long beard might have popped back out, but grandson tried one. Live and learn

I've had em run right into the tom decoys ready to whip some a$$ and I had a tom just flat not come in to a tom decoy, hung up numerous times so I snuck out and took it down, 15 minutes later him and another came right in. Kind of like calling, you can be one of the best callers around and if he aint in the mood, he aint coming in but if he's ready I think they'll come into about anything resembling a hen. One year we were scouting and heard this hen that I would have bet $$ on it being a rookie caller/trespasser, Lord it was awful! We snuck closer and saw the ole gal just squawking her head off and 5 different toms were responding.

I love my DSD decoys but hard pass on that one. Jake decoy with the lay down hen is the best combination I’ve ever used.

Have had good luck with decoys. When you mainly only hunt small parcels from a blind like I do you might as well have a few decoys out to draw attention. I have a couple dsd hens, a quarter strutter, and a primos b mobile. This is a hunt from last year. Ignore the blind covering the camera the first few seconds youtu.be/iAXCbGQLtI0
