Picked up my new Earthquake rear tine tiller last night. Of course I get home and say I want to do one pass in the garden with it to see how it does. I had all new soil added to my garden last year and it was hard as a rock. Planted winter wheat last Fall like I always do, its about 4-6 inches tall. That sucker ate right through that ground and 30 minutes later of me playing with it I got about 1/3 of the garden done. Will play a litte more tonight I am sure.

The ground froze here last night, we had 18°F I think. My buddy just texted me saying that his pond froze over last night.

So of course I had to go home and finish the rest of the garden. Good to get the winter wheat tilled in before I had to cut it.

Spinning backwards gets you a finer "grind" if you want to call it that.

So do you drive forward and it spins backwards? That sucker would have to be built tough.

So do you drive forward and it spins backwards? That sucker would have to be built tough. Yes it does from what I found out after looking them up it digs down better and gives you a better seed bed. I know the one I have spins the same direction I’m going and it will push the tractor forward and bounce on hard clay granted it’s only a 38 hp tractor but that’s still a lot of weight to push around. The one I have was dad’s probably 35 years old it’s just plain wore out but I hate to spend 2 to 3000 bucks on a new one for 15 hours a year maybe a bit more but not something I use very often few hours in spring and fall

You could always advertise to till people’s gardens?? I thought about trying something along that line but most people around here now have raised beds don’t see big gardens like you use at least around here anyway. And a lot of the landscaping people have picked up a lot of that work most have tillers Aerators tree moving equipment most those guys own a bobcat I can’t think of a attachment you can’t buy for those anymore, I don’t remember who it was on here but just a few weeks back I sent them a video of a bobcat that’s got a log grapple with a chainsaw and log splitter attachment that’s all in one that mounts to a bobcat. Guy picked a 8 foot or longer log saw came down cut to 18 inch or so and pushed it out the side and it split it in half dozen sections.

So do you drive forward and it spins backwards? That sucker would have to be built tough. Mine will do either. You unbolt the rotary tiller part from the frame, rotate it 180° when viewed from the top and bolt it back together. I was breaking shear pins and put the next grade tougher in it. No more problems and I haven't broken anything on the tiller. I did the swap probably 15 years ago. If it gets to bouncing I just push the "off" button or raise it up quickly. Problem solved. I have used it to cut up a lot of smaller roots from trees too. Grass and roots get wound around on it, I will take a pair of tree branch loppers to cut the junk off of it. Wire is a bear and is no fun to get off the tines....... I can't tell you how many acres I've tilled with it just doing food plots here. One of these years I have to get a no till drill that is 5'-6' wide.
