Hello all! 50 years old and never seriously done much hunting. Turkey hunted once, and a few Pheasant hunts as a teenager. Going on my first Duck Hunt in a couple weeks out East. Dying to learn so if anyone would be willing to take me under their wing (pun intended) I'd be forever grateful. My 14 yr. old son has shown interest as well so I'd like to be able to share this experience together if possible. I live in the Indy area.

I live in northern Indiana and can not help much Welcome aboard My best advice is enjoy the sights and sounds of the woods and fields and do not stress about bringing some thing home. I have had lots of great hunts and never fired a shot. Let the harvest be icing on the cake

Once you start chasing ducks you'll never stop. Been at it for well over 50 years.

Welcome, Shane! I live in Lafayette and work out of Fishers. It's not waterfowl, but my Fiance and I have Two English Setters and a good bit of experience hunting Pheasant, Quail, and Chukar. If you and your son would like to go out sometime, let me know. I/we would be perfectly fine managing and running the dogs, and shooting backup. If you have rights to any land as well, I can run the dogs for you. My Male is almost 2 and has had 180+ birds shot over him, my female is 8 months, seen plenty and has about 30 birds over her . I can connect you to a couple of preserves in the state that are well run and always prove a good time. They're open through the end of April, so plenty of time remaining.
