In the process of going through my FIL's house as he is now in a nursing home (slow / sad process) and my wife is having to rent the house out. One of his firearms is a Parker-Hale model 640E 16 gauge side by side. I'm trying to figure out how old it is.....have been on websites and found some useful info....however it isn't translating to what I am finding on the gun itself. I have a certificate from Spain (it's my understanding the shotguns were manufactured there and sold through Precision Arms in Cortland, NY) stating the gun has been test fired, etc. with a 1990 date stamped at the bottom. Common sense tells me that is probably the mfg date but I'd like to be sure. I've also tried to contact a gentleman named Gary Growe in Columbus but haven't connected yet. Any resources would be greatly appreciated.

It is my understanding that some of the guns had barrels that looked like an ocean in a storm. Those guns were made by the Ugartechea factory in Spain and imported by many different importers here in the States. They are all Model 30's, but each importer called them a different model - Parker Hale and Precision Sports called them the 640, Excell Arms called them the Model 221. I have seen prices the last year ranging from $1,200 to $400, it all depended on the Auction and who wanted it worse. The guns looked to be in good shape, not used very much.
The Ugartechea factory closed in early to mid 2016. The single trigger imports had some quality issues, but I couldn't find out exactly what those issues were. Also those were the 1970's and 1980's models, nothing was said about a 1990 model.
How do the barrels look on yours and how long are they? Double or single trigger?

Essup....thanks!
Barrels are in good shape and I honestly do not think other than the test fires, they've been fired since. Barrels are 26" long with IC/Mod chokes and double trigger. I found an on-line auction from March 2022 with what appeared to be a very similar gun sold for $500. thanks again
