My dad would have to hold it for me. I would still be shaking so bad the picture would have been blurry.

Yep... Take the head and horns to your favorite taxidermist. Wait a few months. Pick it up. Hang it on your wall. Enjoy looking at it and the memories that go along with it. Perfect recipe EVERYTIME! So I asked this customer if he wanted his antlers back. "nope, you cant eat the horns" he replied. The guy that shot this deer could have cared less if it was a spike or a 180 class deer. He hunts for food, not fame. Theprocessor, I don't hunt for fame or fortune but for the enjoyment and challenge. I do enjoy watching does and small bucks in the field but I don't enjoy killing them and to me it isn't a challange. My family and I will eat about a deer a year but there is no way I'm gonna stop hunting just because I have enough meat in the freezer. If I am lucky enough to kill more than one buck, I will give it to friends. If I spent the money on beef that I spend on deer hunting I'd be eating Prime Rib everynight. I hope you don't think that everyone that waits for a mature buck is doing it for fame.

The person who shot that deer was just happy for the experiece it provided and did not need a trophy as a reminder. I know that hunting is much more than just shooting a large deer, and that some people, myself included, are out there just for the experiences and will not kill a deer if it is not above a certain size. Sorry if it sounded like I was targeting you, but I wasn't.

The word around here is that the Father shot the buck, only after he had killed a buck earlier in the season. He tried to check it on his son's license (who was at work at time of kill) Now the DNR is the proud new owner of the horns...From a reliable source

However, it is NOT true. That is from the IDNR.. The IDNR says it was a legal kill.

Im just curious as to how frequently a CO can come up with conclusive evidence to nail people who party hunt in this state? It happens all the time. If anything the OBR has probably increased it. Besides sitting in a woods with binoculars and actually witnessing a guy shoot 2 bucks, how do they proove it?? It would seem to me that anyone with a lick of sense could beat the system pretty easy and never be punished. This kill was said to be legal by the DNR after being "checked out and checked again" according to a DNR officer from another site, did rumors off an internet prompt the investigation, or was it something else?? Seems like a waste of time to conduct an investigation based solely on something people said on the internet.

Just to let you all know in advance. When I kill the next world record I will not have it registered. Why put yourself through all that BS. . If you have proof of the deer being poached come forward with the evidence. If not just be happy for the guy.

That's just strange... very strange. I do have more respect for this guy than previous record holders who instantly become toys for PRIMOS/HOYT/TINKS/BROWNING/TREELOUNGE/HUNTERSSPECIALTIES...ect ect.
Anybody see the record holder (Guy from ohio?) on TV last week? I guess he has his own television show... he missed a 170" whitetail in Montanna with a 7mm at 150 yards. TWICE!

That rascal has to be related to my gun kill in 2004. Same whitish antlers and a palmated right brow time. The start of stickers on the left G2 was similar to his non-typical G2. Only his was a LOT bigger than mine..
