Got 1 kid going in the morning, taking 2 other dads/kids. Ponds are nearly dried up, but that just concentrates the birds that are there. Hope the birds we’ve seen aren’t roosting there, find out in the morning. Good luck to all who are going!

3 kids, 8 ducks. 2 mallards and 6 teal. Lots of birds flying, lots of shooting. My kid ran out of shells!

Good going!! Did you have a dog to go get them or did you have to slog through the mud? I had a flock of woodies land on the pond here last night.

No dog for anyone. I’m glad I didn’t let him burn a shell on the muskrat we saw before shooting light!

As a old friend once said "I didn't carry all these shells out here so I could carry them back"!
Great job taking the the youth hunters out.

NOW there's a kid that looks like he had fun with a Capital "F".
Empty shell belt and fists full of ducks.

Those teal are tough coming in, but your boy didn’t seem to have a problem! We’ve been though a box and half of shells in 2 sits. I don’t blame him though to wait for those fat, slow mallards. Bet he had fun!

Bet he had fun! Man we had birds all over but we were about 150 yards off the X. It’s hard to compete with several hundred live birds right next to us! But it was one of the most amazing hunts I’ve ever seen. I’ve hunted Arkansas and even that was hard to compare.

That is the neatest but most frustrating thing to have birds working, but not just over you! Never been to Arkansas or any place like that, but Have Featherduster chime in here, I’m sure he had action in the 1980’s here in north central Indiana that was second to none. We hunted in the same general location. I had some good sits then too, but I was only in high school. It’s a really neat thing to have hundreds or thousands of birds working a spread.
This year we’ve had more teal than ever before, and not many woodies. About the same amount of local mallards. Hope we see some northern birds around thanksgiving before things normally freeze. Congrats again to you and your boy, those are fun times!

BTW, the places I’m talking about is at SR 8 and SR 39, just like Eshup said above. That place still holds birds, but nothing like 30-40 years ago.
