Start looking for an old run down pontoon boat that can be acquired for cheap, strip it down to bare floors and tie it up to the shore. The pontoon will make a great floating pier. I have one in my pond and it works perfect especially with fluctuating water levels.

Keep it up. He needs roughly 25% of the surface area in cover for the fish. i.e. if it's a 4 acre pond, then he needs a total of 1 ac of cover for the fish. If he needs help with stocking, let me know and I can walk him through how much to stock of what species to meet his fishery goals.

Ask away and I'll help any way I can. You aren't really that far away, I stocked a pond with Triploid Grass Carp two weeks ago that was roughly 6 miles NW from the intersection of 144 and 67. 6700 block of Mann Road in Indianapolis.

Willow Slough game preserve is in the process of redoing their lake. They took out their dam and drained the entire lake. Something they did that was pretty cool is create fish attractors but cutting smaller trees that were about 6-8 in diameter then they went along drilling holes and dropping the trees in the holes standing straight up. If you know where these attractors are when the lake is reflooded that will be a hot spot.

Care to share the GPS numbers with me old buddy 😀 I swear I won’t pass them on honest pinky swear They use to let us make brush piles at Huntington reservoir when they drained it down over the winter for flood control in the spring amazing how far they took that down you’d never think fish could live in the small amount of water it was weird walking out when just a short time back it was 8 10 foot of water Don’t know if they let you do that or not anymore

The trees last 5-7 years in the lake. After that all that's left is the main trunk and the main branches, none of the small ones. Saltydog, your buddy needs to add some geotextile fabric, then 8" of pea gravel in water that's 12"-36" deep. Near it he should put a bunch of christmas trees and make a line of them going to deep water for the winter. Mark them, and add the same amount of trees to them every 4-5 years.

Most of the major impoundments are doing this to help fish with more habitat , they are even pinning the sites on GPS. You can go to there web sites and get the coordinates and go directly to them.

That to me is wrong what’s next someone to bait the hook for them I’m telling ya I’m not all that smart but it sure seems like we are trying to make people either stupid or lazy I swear every day it gets worse maybe we should put tree stands up for people that don’t know how to hunt. How are you ever going to learn anything especially how to survive in this world if it’s not on your phone maybe I’m wrong but how about putting a little effort into it every once and awhile
