Between 2011 and 2012 the price jumped $100. I'd hate to think what guys are spending now on a quality shoulder mount.

The way I see it taxidermists are just trying to keep their head above water just like everyone else in these tough economic times. I’m sure they love what they do but much like any other job, they probably wouldn’t do it if they couldn’t make any money. They have to eat to and may have families that like to eat also. If you have a trophy that is worth mounting I would try to keep that in mind before I said too much about the price. Good luck this year

Over $8 just for plastic ear liners. Forms for typical around $85. Good eyes are $15-20. My guess If I started back the cost would be around $125 plus tannin chemicals in bulk costs. My guess around $150-$175 in materials per deer. Not counting equipment and labor etc.

My sister in Rochester area has had to raise her prices this year. I've jumped my processing fee up to $145. Went and picked up supplies yesterday, poly back freezer paper has went up 45%, nitro gloves are ridiculous! Deer hide buyer called $2!!!

It seems that when selling you have to take it in the shorts but when buying you have to pay top dollar.

Up until 3 years ago my fur buyer had drop off stations where hunters could exchange their deer hide for a decent pair of winter gloves. He had to stop doing that because he was taking a loss.
