Heading down the the HNF late October to deer hunt. Are the designated parking lots? Can you park on the side of the roads?

There are lots of parking lots for hiking trails and such where hunting is permitted. I have seen trucks parked along the sides of roads during hunting season. About the only place I have seen where you can't hunt is inside of camping areas.

So I'm a new member. Haven't seen how you can just put out a comment or question. I'm seeing where it asks for a recipient

So I'm a new member. Haven't seen how you can just put out a comment or question. I'm seeing where it asks for a recipient Welcome to Hunting-Indiana If you mean how to start a new thread it is almost easy. In the welcome mat or whatever section you are in you will see what section you are in on the upper left corner. Straight across the bar you will see CREATE THREAD. Click on it and you can start by filling out the SUBJECT. Once you have completed that you can move to the body of your thread and start typing. When you have said all you choose to say in the lower right click Create Post. After your post is up if you notice an error you can always edit your post to correct spelling and maybe add a word that somehow does not appear in your post.

Never noticed this thread posted previously...
I think it depends on what county that you are in as I saw several posts on facebook 2 years ago with hunters receiving parking tickets from sheriff's department (don't remember what county, maybe Orange?) when they just pulled off the road to park in a spot wherever they wanted to pull off.
Best to call and find out ahead of time to make sure you aren't paying a fine after you come back out to the truck!

I would bet any tickets issued were in Monroe County, in the Deam Wilderness. There is a several-mile stretch that is posted no parking, because the wilderness boundary comes right up to the edge of the road.
