My wife found this walking the woods. We know some of the more common and I feel like we should know this one but we dont...or we forgot. Any guesses?

Well not the same.
This is apparently coliflower mushroom. Could have ate it. Supposed to have an egg noodle taste/texture.
Pick and eat at your own risk! We don't eat many. But I would try that one.
She did say the chicken of the woods, Chantrells and a ton of other shrooms were out in full force this week. She was working so she doesn't have time or place to hold onto them. I really like the chantrelles and COW but she doesn't so if I want them on my own.

To early for HENS and COLIFLOWERS. I agree. I've never found any Hens before October. They will withstand a frost and not be hurt.

Well not the same. This is apparently coliflower mushroom. Could have ate it. ...So, is it Colliflower? I found (4) bunches of those in my woods and it is definitely NOT the same as H.O.W. these have a thin leaf and are very delicate to handle and picked-up a lot of leaf litter in them as they grew. So my question is... do we know what it is?

I have no idea what time of the year is normal for them either.

Those are excellent eating, just batter them and deep fry them like you would fish.
They taste like chicken.
