I pulled the old generac out of the shop yesterday morning and fired it up so it could run for about 15 minutes. I did the same with my snow blower. I hadn't started it since I did the test run last year.

Forecast is really starting to ramp up for us. Saying winds to 40mph today and tomorrow. Says 2-4" snow tonight, and then 1/2" rain Tuesday. What a mess that will be.
Friday into the weekend lots of snow and wind again, then frigid temps. Old man winter about to show face.

I brought in my secondary firewood box and filled it up along with the primary firewood box. I put firewood in the fireplace too. Gas cans are all topped off as well.
I hope all this prep has been for nothing.

I hate it too. I truly hope everyone gets through it all okay. I just want to rabbit hunt and this weekend does not look optimal for that.

What a busy looking radar. It was still thick snow at 4am but, about 5:45 it switched back to rain.

5 am we had about 3" snow, then the snow turned to ice for about an hour now it's raining and snowing combined. I have doors on the East and West side of the house, the dogs wouldn't go out on the East side where the wind was coming from. It's ugly out there!

Maybe 3" inthe Ft Wayne area. A lot of 2 hour delays and some closings. A lot of the closings are going with E-School today.
Wet snow that makes Ice when packed.
I suppose 9 months old is too young for a Grandbaby-GPA snowman bonding experience.

The radar is quite the picture. About 2 inches of snow and rain mixing in now. No wind to speak of yet. First day back to school after Christmas break, and it started with a 2 hour delay.

I'm glad we are getting winter soon and finally. I see a good week below 32 and that's good. Summer will be more pleasant with lower number of bugs. Maybe even some lake freezing to ice skate. Just be safe. It's better for the bees. They can handle the cold, but not the warm. They fly and no food out there and now they eat more stores being so active.

Just rain here… Looks like a cold spell is coming this weekend and first part of next week. Tome to fire up the fireplace insert! I wanted to buy a fireplace insert for years. My wife finally stated yesterday at dinner we need a fireplace insert. She is finally onboard! So, now I need to look again and see what she likes etc.

Went out to assess the snow and clean up where the county wind rowed a big ridge of slush. With the ground so muddy and unfrozen, I had to back drag the bucket on float so it didnt tear up everything. Made a couple passes with the snowblower between the cars, down the sidewalk, and out to the wood shed too. Had to shovel out the slush in the chute as well. So now just a muddy mess out there and raining. Nice.
Still forecasting big snow Fri and Sat. Then highs in low singles and lows below zero Mon and Tues. Let's hope for no outside work!

A Road Call would be nasty. I learned my lesson a while back. Slushy snow means no snowthrower.
