It was 81F when I left the house @ 8am today. Humidity was 98%, couldn't see out the windows in the house because of the condensation on them. Same on the truck, hand to run the wipers occasionally because of condensation. Then around 10 a breeze came up and temp dropped to 75F. Got home @ noon to 81F. did paperwork, looked at the thermometer at 4pm. 99°F with a heat index of 111°. Clouds burned off and the sun kicked in.

I feel like a champ in this weather. I mowed the grass, and split wood for over an hour today. Took a 1.5mi walk, and now at work. It's a bit sultry in the shop, but I'm hanging right in there. The other guy and the wash/fuel guy that's 32yo is dragging butt tonight. Lol

It rained a little more last night, but not much. We got around 1.75 inches of rain yesterday and more forecasted this afternoon. Not even one one hundred degree day this week and the media is dying of the heat. My yard is still green and never turned brown this year. I'm so glad my yard is now a 1 hour cut, it used to be a 2.5 hour cut.

Well they moved our football game back an hour to 8:00. Still gonna be pretty miserable sitting out there. Plus it’s bantam night, so the place will be packed.

My thermometer read 79 at 4:00 a.m. The highest my truck had was 102 at 3:30.
I had to demand that our field workers quit at 4:00 this afternoon. They wanted to keep working. All it takes is for one to go down and immediately the company is at fault.

Smart move… In my Safety job at Alcoa we found that heat exhaustion, including some cases of heat stroke, accelerated greatly at 105 heat index. |

When I did volunteer work for Habitat for Humanity home build we had a super hot two weeks in July one year. We lost all our volunteers so it was the Construction Supervisor and me.
We decided to work smart and start at barely sunup and quit at noon or until we couldn’t stand it anymore. We had trees to the east of us and that gave us decent shade until about 11:30. Then it was put away the tools time and head for home.

We had a heck of a storm roll through about 2am. Lost power and still don’t have it back.

I got my power back at 3 pm.
Just about a 12 hour outage.
I had my generator hooked to my fridge about an hour before it came back on.
Might get more tonight.

I just did a quick search on the days ahead and had to do a double take.
Next Wednesday shows a high of 107°!
And that’s not even the “feels like” temperature!
