We hung it up at 4 pm.
Never saw a turkey.
Back at it in the morning.
Woodmaster is staying until the cows come home..

She all bundled up. But, she is getting cold already. Not sure how long we'll last this evening. I haven't done any calling for about 45 minutes now. I'll try again in a few. There's that photo of your wife you want to carry in your wallet!

Well….. I was out there from 4am to 6pm and I never heard a single gobble. I told my wife before I left that I don’t care if I don’t harvest a bird, I’ve just never heard a gobble before. I never heard a single gobble. I was barred owl hooting and crow calling all over the forest and never heard a peep. Toward the end of the day, I walk as far back as possible and still be inside park limits, and I thought I jumped a deer. When I finally got to where I could see into the ravine, there were about a dozen turkeys in the bottom and the moment they saw me crest the hill, they flew off like a bomb went off. After that, I sat still for 2 hours and could hear hens putting all around, but not a single gobble.

Well. This bird is big. 25.26lbs 10 1/2” beard but minuscule 3/4” spurs. I should have added her to my team. Lol

Back at it and settled in. Woodmaster had to go to work today so we are hunting his field on the neighboring farm.
Good luck to all that are out…and be safe!
