When I was on vacation in south Carolina I was pohn shopping and found a rifle I was interested in. When I inquired about a sale I was told that they could not sell to Indiana residents and showed me a list of states he could not sell to. The list was short but had what you would figure. Cal, Oregon, Ill,Washington Maryland and Indiana I was floored. I can not figure out what or why Indiana would be on that list. Any one got any ideas? I always thought we were a gun friendly state With few restrictive gun laws. Why would we be on a list with California? I was told in Florida they could not sell me a rifle before but figured it was Florida law but now I wonder if it is some obscure Indiana law I don't know about. Any of you have any information on this to enlighten me?

All I know is our ltch is not reciprocated there either.
Found this as well: Furthermore, non-residents to the state of South Carolina may also purchase rifles or shotguns in the state, as long as he/she follows the necessary laws of the state as well as federal regulations.

Yes he told me that he could sell to nonresidents as long as they did not live in one of the states on the do not sell list. Indiana being one of the do not sell. There has to be some law here to get us on that list. I just do not know where to look or what to look for.

South Carolina doesn't honor Indiana concealed carry permits either. Yeah and I hate that. Each year we go to Florida at least once and we travel this way. Once we near the border of South Carolina I have to put my handgun either in the console or glovebox and keep it there until we hit Georgia.

I found out a couple days ago that Maryland doesn't honor them either. When I was in Maryland, after I left a Cracker Barrel from having breakfast. 😄

Idk. I'd rather take my chances with a jury than be 6 feet under?

I tried to buy a gun in a Eastcoast state one time and was told if I don’t reside in a neighboring state or the state they couldn’t sell to me according to their state law.

That is correct, but I believe it would be legal for them to sell it to you, and then send it to your FFL to do the 4733 form and THEN you take possession. When I purchased my long range rifle, I could not pick it up from the gunsmith in person (Montana) he had to ship it to my FFL here in Indiana.

Seems silly just to have the 4473 ran in your state. But when did gun laws ever have to make sense? When I bought some ammo at Cabalas in Hammond I had to show my drivers license. They wanted to know if I lived in Illinois.
