Today I hunted geese with my best hunting friend of over 45 years.
With the temps going into the tank for the next week or so and with 8+ inches of lake effect snow expected by tomorrow this might be the last chance to hunt this season.
Over those years we leased and built 3 ducks clubs one of the clubs was for more than 25 years.
The past few years as we grew older we just never could put together a good hunt so today was kind of special.
We set up my pond which has open water and we very comfy in the blind as the wind was out of the North and the temps were falling throughout the day.
We saw several hundred geese and managed to bring a small flock to our spread of 7 goose floaters allowing us to knock down 3. We watched flock after flock of Sandhill Cranes and reminisced about hunts of the past.
It's always been said that there is no stronger friendships made then those of a WATERFOWLER.
We both hope and pray we can do it again another day.

Waterfowl hunting is a lot of fun. My best friend, my son and I are regular waterfowl partners. It’s a nice change after deer season to be able to bond in a blind. Lots of fun times practical jokes and stories to be told. The practical jokes though. Haha, can’t go on a hunt where someone is doing something. Like one day my son decided to do a YouTube video on his phone of a flock of geese, my friend and I were blowing our calls like crazy and they sounded like they were getting closer (he was increasing the volume) We couldn’t see them but they were coming…..and then my son holds his phone up….that dork!!!! Lol

Lol The one practical joke I don't like is when someone takes you shells out of your gun while you are on a potty break or fixing decoys. In my mind we have so few opportunities here in Indiana that doing something like that and letting that guy pull up and go "click" is not cool. I'm good with most others though.

Oh yeah. We don’t mess with each other’s guns. That is off limits. Made that rule early on. But most anything else is fair so long as it don’t mess the hunt up.

Glad to hear that Featherduster, especially after your last post about not ever making it out this year.

I am so ready to get after the geese. But I have been down with pneumonia for a week. Son has been killing a few.

Hunters are all over the river. See them loading up every morning at the docks. You can definitely Tell when the pressures on at the river. My pond loaded with geese and ducks.
