While I enjoyed hunting with my grandfather's old Winchester single shot 20ga. last year (got my first quails with it) I have decided that I'd like an O/U to hunt with. I don't do a ton of upland bird hunting but, I've still always wanted one. Now that I have property with birds, at least for now, I'm thinking harder about getting one.
I know Mossberg isn't a huge fan favorite but, I own a few and haven't had any issues with them. Their price points are fair too. I'm looking at the Mossberg international silver reserve. Anyone have one of these or other suggestions?
I'm not going to make a purchase for awhile seeings how I just bought a crossbow. But, nothing wrong with window shopping and looking at reviews in the meantime.
Thanks and God Bless

If the Indiana Gun Club is still in operations and they not only let you hold the guns but you can go shoot rounds of skeet or trap with the price of admission. I would suggest a trip to Indy and shoot 3 or 4 rounds of skeet with a few guns in your budget.
Back when I was shooting more I shot several cases of 20 ga shells looking for just the right one. Never bought one but was able to shoot budget guns and way over budget guns.
Otherwise I am sure there are reviews up and down the spectrum. Good luck

indianagunclub.org/Looks like they still open. Great place that is open to the public. If same family owns it I can't imagine anything has changed

I've never been a Mossberg fan, but I ended up buying a silver reserve O/U in 28 gauge a couple of years ago, and it's a great gun! Is definitely one of my favorites to carry bird hunting. A touch on the heavy side, but not terrible.
You might also want to look into the CZ line of O/U's. I've got a CZ Redhead Deluxe in 20 gauge, and it is my all around favorite. They don't make the Redhead Deluxe anymore, but have similar models. The CZ Drake is a pretty budget friendly option in their lineup.

The CZ Shotgun lineup is fantastic, gorgeous, quality guns and, in my opinion, the best value going. Stevens 555 is also a very good, wallet-friendly, choice.

Is that what you were shooting in your video of your pup on point? No, that day I was carrying a 20 gauge Citori. Don't know why. Usually use the 28 on put and take birds. Note: Did drop some wild birds in Iowa using the 28. No. 5 Fiocchi shells. The 28 weighs 5 lbs. It's an easy shotgun to carry all day.

I forgot about the Stevens 555. My son has one in 28 gauge as well. Very light, nice gun. And another great value for the price point.

Mossbergs? Meh. I'm partial to Browning O/U's. I have a Browning Citori and a Nikko Golden Eagle, which the Winchester 101 is a copy of. That's a great gun too, but not current production.

Look at yildiz. Never did get a chance to purchase one but did a bunch of research on them. Was looking at a. 410 SxS but never could be at same place and time as one of them. Fit and finish are on par with guns double and triple their cost. Talked to several people shooting clays with them and no issues. Only problem, unless you can find one used, is sportsman's warehouse is the only importer of them in the United States

I have a Stoeger Condor Longfowler O/U that I absolutely love for pheasants and doves. Very reasonably priced new.

I'm in love with my Ruger Red Label, 20 gauge Over/Under. Thousands of rounds through her and never a glitch. There is quite a Love-Hate relationship when it comes to this shotgun as per reviews and comments online. And just so you know "duster" I love my old "girl!"

indianagunclub.org/Looks like they still open. Great place that is open to the public. If same family owns it I can't imagine anything has changed[/quote Still good place to shoot. Phil Baker is the current operator and a good guy. FWIW Indiana Trap Shooters Assoc. has always owned the property and leases the premises to Phil. It's been leased by several different people over the years. It's not the place to find a good selection of budget shotguns on the rack but I believe an individual could order one thru Phil. Steve
