Tristar is another source for a decent shotgun within your budget. They as well as cz, Stevens, Stoger etc. are all turkish manufactured guns which I wouldn't have touched 10 to 15 years ago but it seems the Turks have got their stuff together the last several years and can offer a gun affordable by most folks.

Look at yildiz. Never did get a chance to purchase one but did a bunch of research on them. Was looking at a. 410 SxS but never could be at same place and time as one of them. Fit and finish are on par with guns double and triple their cost. Talked to several people shooting clays with them and no issues. Only problem, unless you can find one used, is sportsman's warehouse is the only importer of them in the United States It looks like Academy has some. Nice looking guns too! www.academy.com/shop/browse/brands/brands-s-z/yildizI stand corrected. Academy is the importer. No idea where sportsman's warehouse came from. I found out about them when cabelas had a used .410 side by side on the used rack.

What? No Ruger Red Label fans? That's also a good choice,in my opinion.

Well I made a purchase. I went with the Stevens 555 E in 12ga.
I like the chrome lined barrels and the ejectors. I was able to get a fair deal on it as well.
I am looking forward to getting it in my hands and brushing up on my shotgunning skills by busting some clays.

I recently took home a CZ Upland Ultralight All-Terrain in 12, and have been happy so far. The 555 is now atop my short list for 20ga.

I received my Stevens today. Boy, it shoulders real nice and it's lightweight. Really looking forward to trying it out! Lightweight may punish my shoulder some. But, it's not likely that I'll be putting that many rounds through it at once.

But, it's not likely that I'll be putting that many rounds through it at once. If you are used to shooting a heavier gun it will take some time to get used to the quickness of how it swings. I have to re-teach my brain when switching from my 30" Citori O/U to my Franchi 48 AL 20 ga. See the bird, swing past it, stop the gun, come back, swing through the bird again and THEN pull the trigger. LOL

This is my first O/U. I used a single shot 20ga. beforehand. I am definitely eager to learn how to shoot better with it.

If it's a 12 ga. remove the screw in choke, take a mini-mag flashlight and slide it in the barrel. You might need some electric tape on the small end so it fits snugly. Make the light as small as possible. Point it towards the corner of the room where the ceiling hits the walls. Shoulder the shotgun while not moving the light. Do that 50x a day and you will be on your way to shooting well. Position your head so the head hits the stock the same time the stock hits your shoulder. Just keep looking at the corner of the wall, NOT the shotgun.
