I'm sorry but if you cannot tell elk from a deer, you really shouldn't have any kind of weapon, literally ANY. Rubber band gun - NO. A salt gun for killing insects - NO. ANY

The ridiculous thing is that the article says that this is the 4th consecutive year that elk have been illegally killed by deer hunters.

Here’s what I Think. Mr. Yahoo figured he could kill this elk and get away with it. I’m sure he knew it was an elk (though there’s that off chance he couldn’t tell the difference) and wanted more meat or maybe bragging rights to his friends. Either way he’s guilty (should have positively ID’d his target.) Shouldn’t ever be allowed to hunt again in my opinion.

Story discussed other past cases (this one probably under current investigation) that were deemed "misidentification". Which is utter bull IMO.

Honestly, after watching a THP video last year and the hunting beast, they way they shoot, i'm not surprised by this at all.
From the little I've seen, which is little so I could unfairly characterize this. I want no part of Wisconsin gun season.

Not forgivable in my opinion. Loose you privilege to hunt forever.
