I’m considering planting some Norway spruce in an area I don’t wish to mow anymore. Will deer bother them much?

I had a few in my landscaping and deer never touched them. The deer did eat all the rose bushes within feet of the blue spruces.

Had the same idea, 12 years of mowing around tree's before they were big enough I could quit mowing.

Red spider mites love spruces.

Attached are some photos of Blue Spruce trees that the deer love to abuse during the rut. These trees were given to me years ago so I planted them in the WRP property. The deer love these Spruce trees a lot more than they do my White Pines.

I believe there is a spruce beetle going around killing them. Check with the district forester to be sure that you aren't wasting your time.
