This evening I tried a new way of cooking deer tenderloins and knocked this one out of the park.
My wife and I enjoyed Pan seared then finished in the oven tenderloins from my deer. We also had Pierogi with Portabella mushrooms and onions, scrambled eggs and biscuits.

O.k....i grew up with pierogi, holubki, all that hearty artery clogging east european cuisine that'll keep you warm whilst cutting firewood and fending off werewolves in the Polish forests, but adding portabellos sounds awesome, and i'll be making it for my wife at the next opportunity! Joebuck

Joebuck Cut the Portabellas up and fry them along with onion, then add them to the Pierogi which we sauted in butter till lightly browned.

My garden has been rocking this year. The past two years I've been putting saved composts on top and mix in a little, then I put that paper mesh cardboard that I save through out the year on top of the compost. I then on top of those two put year plus old straw. I picked my third basket of tomato's from 6 plants. I've canned most and given some away. This soil improvement and worm castings have made a huge difference. Having bees only a few feet away also helps. The paper mesh cardboard and straw keeps the weeds down and helps hold the soil moisture. Only a few weeds here and there, that I can manage.

This weekend picked near the end of the garden. I have one more zucchini and looks like the last. No more cucumbers and maybe a few more tomatoes. I'm going to over winter most of the carrots.
