I think 10 guys could score a deer like this and come up with 10 different scores. But we had to get it scored by a B&C scorer before the magazines would touch it. I guess because of so many people trying to pull a fast one. LOL !!!

Just $250+ for that level of craftsmanship ? Wow , I don't even trophy hunt and that impresses me ! kevin1, If this buck and a doe came by your stand, which would you shoot and why?

That would depend on the difference in size/probable age . An old gamey buck is far less appealing to me than a sweet tender young doe , despite the reduced yield . If it were a younger buck vs. a tough elderly doe I'd go for the buck . It depends on the situation , and the trophy value of the buck doesn't enter my equasion because I don't personally value antlers . I enjoy the sport of the hunt just as you do , but it's a distant second to getting meat in the box . My trophy is space filled in the freezer and memories of successful hunts , and dead animals on the wall give me the creeps as I've explained before , but I know a high quality mount when I see one . If I did trophy hunt this is the guy I would send it to .

kevin1 , Thanks for the reply. I personally can't tell the difference between the taste and tenderness between young deer and an old buck. How many deer will you eat in a year?

So far my wife and I have consumed about half the meat from the two deer I got last season , but we could have easily doubled that except for careful rationing . I live in Harrison Co. , one of the new reduction counties , so I could take as many as 8 . My actual limit is the freezer we have , it's one of those 7 cubic foot things . If I had a larger freezer and much better skills than I currently possess I'd try to fill it up or limit out . Any excess meat is donated to needy folks in our area through friends .
