I would normally ask this question of our resident Conservation officer however I am not sure he will see this in time. So if you know the correct answer please respond.
If a youth purchases a mentor license can they hunt deer with that license alone or do they need an additional deer license?

What is a mentor lic…. You mean Apprentice lic?
If so they can’t hunt alone must be in close by of adult.
That license covers all hunting!
If youth wants to hunt alone they need a YOUTH LICENSE and hunter’s Education

Thanks Greg that was my fault/ confusion.
I might try and take one of my grand daughters this weekend and I wanted to make sure that the Apprentice license is all she will need.
I am clear on the requirements as the licensed adult hunter just wasn't clear on the the deer license for her.

The apprentice hunter must be in close proximity to and able to communicate with a hunter who is at least 18 years old and has a valid hunting license (unless exempt from needing a hunting license) at all times.
I had to look up the same info for my grandson and found this pertinent!

The apprentice youth license would be all she needs. Good to go with that and good luck.

Remember when you get the license it is listed as an Apprentice Youth License Bundle and is $7. Don't let the big box store representative try to give you the wrong thing
