3 miles North of the little town of Westport,In For many years we used the Westport locker for processing! Price for leased hunting ground just went up in Decatur County.. 😆 🤣 😂. There is that much, or at least wasn't. The biggest section is just over 5 miles away. I don't see the immediate area changing to lease ground any time soon.

When was the last big Typical Deer killed in the area you know of? Just wondering ! I remember this deer “Decatur County 24 Point”shot by Jack Keihn and he shot this buck on 11-22-05 with a 20 gauge I believed it scored around 230” as a NT back then

The story behind that one is painful. There is a neighbor to the farm that is a taxidermist that has been taking deer 150+ just about every year since I was a kid. His basement walls are covered with them. No book entries and no fanfare to prevent attention. There was a 12 point taken about 5 years or so ago in the area, then that one my buddy found on his farm a couple years ago that I was chasing. I have had several the last 15 years I've been on the farm on camera that seemed massive (not the current massive) that I believe died of old age or someone with tight lips killed. I figure with their size even if poached someone would talk. Sorry, caught the typical part after I posted. The last one I believe was out by New Point 3 years or so ago. I have a 10 on camera from Thursday morning that looks like a mini version of Dusty's. No clue as to score, im terrible at it. Oh, there was a mid 160's north of St. Omar 6 or 7 years ago. That guy brought it to my hunter ed class because his kid was there. Shot on Friday right before dark and recovered mid Saturday morning.

I heard this morning that a 50K offer was made for exclusive rights to hunt the property the deer was killed on for the rest of this year. That offer was rejected with the message to tell anybody else to not even bother.

If it were my property and someone offered me 50K to hunt it for the rest of this year, I would have not only told them yes, but h*ll yes! That's a fast $50K and the odds of there being another deer anywhere near as big as this one would likely be nearly zero.

What is funny is how many in Parke and Putnam been hanging in barns that big and bigger for years they just wont ever be seen other than a record of being checked in as a buck.

Seen where he changed his FB profile and pic to Indiana resident… that’s a plus and should stop any confusion!

Think he still has a place in Nashville but was just hoping to catch up with had some friends with us that hadn't seen him preform. 3 days in Nashville was hard on this ole boy. 😆 🤣 What is it from your area to Nashville… 5 hour ride or less?

HOLD MY BEER... DNR has took possession of the deer is latest news. Seems hunter purchased a Resident Indiana hunting license while still having a Tenn. Drivers license at time he killed deer. (Hunter has since moved back to Indiana and obtained a Indiana DL.) Not sure how this is going to all wash out, I HOPE this ends up good and not bad.
