If that's the case, it still doesn't sound like he did anything too atrocious.

I’ve been hearing rumors around town here, but like I tell everyone..I’ll just wait and see what happens in the coming days and I won’t help spread the rumors. Hope it works out for him... He's a good young man. I would hate to see him lose deer on a technicality. I was told he had moved back to Indiana months ago as he is dating a good friends daughter from Vevay. Kill a deer of that caliber you are automatically put under the microscope and I am sure there are some neighboring hunter's less than happy deer was killed. I hope it works out for him as well.

HOLD MY BEER... DNR has took possession of the deer is latest news. Seems hunter purchased a Resident Indiana hunting license while still having a Tenn. Drivers license at time he killed deer. (Hunter has since moved back to Indiana and obtained a Indiana DL.) Not sure how this is going to all wash out, I HOPE this ends up good and not bad. I feared this from day one…. All over a stupid license! From Reg Book….. * An Indiana resident is a person who has established a true fixed and permanent home and primary residence in Indiana for 60 consecutive days prior to buying a license or permit and does not claim residency for hunting, trapping or fishing in another state or country. All others are non-residents.

Is this all hearsay or are there actual facts or articles written about this accusation?

Is this all hearsay or are there actual facts or articles written about this accusation? Iam sure BC is in direct contact with Hunter and family...Don't believe he would make the post if DNR didn't have the antlers IMO

All others are non-residents. That will be the argument. My understanding is he has been living back here in Indiana for sometime. (I can not confirm that or deny ). I DO HATE TO HEAR THIS THOUGH and Of course he is innocent until proven guilty. Greg you were 1st to point out his FB page read he lived in Nashville. I didn't even think twice as I had seen him up here a few time's over last 3 months so assumed he was living here.

This is exactly what I told my cousin...some of these rumors could be started by jealous people if I had to guess. I was talking to my taxidermist the other day (guy who green scored it) and he said that a guy in Zenas..8 miles away from where it was killed has his sheds and pictures of the buck. That’s a crazy distance to travel and not get shot!! Another amazing part of the bucks’s story!

You’re right that a haul from where the deer was shot… almost think it would be another deer.
I talked with guy few weeks ago that knows someone that supposedly had trail cam pics of the deer for last few years and was actively hunting the Deer!

Because of personal experience with the deer in the area, including Zenus, I would lean towards it being multiple deer on those cameras. The young bucks disperse from their birth area and take the genetics with them.

I was wondering about that when the story said he was in Tennessee singing. Didn't want to be that guy to question it because I believe as long as you aren't gone something like 89 days that you are still considered a resident. May be more complicated than that and I just condensed the law

Greg posted IC that to be resident you need to reside here for 60 days prior. Whether this is issue or not? Hope it all can get worked out for the young man as it wouldn't be good for him, family, community or hunting in general. Just have to let it play out and wait for results of investigation and official word. Right now it's all speculation and 2nd hand news other than DNR is investigating.

I'm going to ask a dumb question...
How did the young man purchase a resident Indiana hunting license if he didn't have a valid Indiana driver's license?
Can a person say they have been a resident for 60 days and qualify as a resident @ that point OR can you provide proof of payment for say a utility bill for the required 60 days and qualify as a resident @ that point?
I'm confused as to what the process is.

Will just have to wait and see what investigation yields and official statement. Only thing I know is fact is DNR took possession of deer pending investigation.

Bucks will travel 10 miles out during the rut. I posted some years ago on a study that showed buck moving miles away from home core area.

I think much depends on deer density, habitat and topography of land. Locally we don't see much young buck dispersion and majority of bucks we see and harvest are bucks we are familiar with. A unfamiliar buck here showing up is rare BUT we have great heavily wooded habitat and ample food sources available and lots of does.

If you have the does then you will have the bucks. My biggest I have pictures for three years. Took him on his 5th year.
