Would anybody happen to know what trappers use for staking down bear traps? I'm not planning on setting any traps but I need something super strong to chain my pit bull mix to,he's currently chained to his big heavy dog house with a big eye bolt and he's literally tearing off the whole front of his dog house. I never have much luck with those screw in dog stakes,my beagle even works those out and I can't afford a kennel. I figure a bear trap stake would surely be strong enough but I'm not sure how trappers stake them down. The largest animal I've ever trapped were coyotes and keeping them staked down is hard enough and he's a lot stronger than a coyote. Any ideas are very well appreciated.

Go to the hardware, tractor, rural king, menards and find an earth anchor

Look for used kennels and fencing on Facebook marketplace I’ve gotten a couple and give. Away a couple over the years on there.

Get a piece of #5 or #6 grade 60 Rebar that is 48" long. Have someone bend the top into a "u". Slip a 12" heavy chain over the "u" before you pound it into the ground, burying the "U" so just the chain is above ground. Attach the dog's tie out tether to that piece of chain. Nothing for it to get tangled up on if you pound it down below ground level.

I've got some rebar but I think they're only 30" and already have the "U" in them but I'm not sure what Grade they are,I use them to hold the duck fence down in wet areas since the 12" ones pull out too easy. I may have to double check into that.

One of the cheapest tie out stakes that will hold a big hound is a chain connected to a 4" ring around an old straight axle driven into the ground. Used to be able to get those axles free at any mechanic's shop.
