See.. content.govdelivery.com/accounts/INDFISHWILD/bulletins/2f11445Dear 2021 Turkey Brood Reporters, What a year we had! Thanks to you, we were able to obtain over 5,100 turkey brood observations in Indiana over the past two months. While it will take us time to work through all the data, we are excited to share some preliminary results with you below (see our map). This was the first year we had enough data to complete a first-ever analysis of turkey production by region. As many of you saw, this year has been fantastic for poult survival, and we certainly saw an increase in sightings as a result - 300% more observations than 2020! Your observations have helped us obtain critical data to inform wild turkey management and compare future population trends. Some notable findings from our wild turkey biologist: Brood production overall was really high this year in comparison to past years Observations aligned closely with available turkey habitat (forested areas) 68 of 92 counties met our goal of 25+ observations per county Indiana turkey brood observations This map summarizes the total number of turkey brood sightings reported in each Indiana county. Thank you again for your support and we hope you report turkeys again next year! Indiana Division of Fish & Wildlife

Looks like good news! Perhaps all those tasty cicadas helped the little ones.
