So around a week ago I was out in the ditch in front of my house weed eating it since my sprayer was at the in laws and I was not able to spray it with glyphosate. Next thing I know I'm getting lit up behind my arm and got another one just below the eye. So after some screaming and cussing I went to crop-tech here in town. The lady asks me what I was looking for. I said I want something to kill insects, She asks "Which ones?" of which I reply "All of them, I want something that children have to stay away from, and if handled improperly may kill a small horse".
She gave me some chemical with 38% permethrin in it. So I took it home after I bought a new sprayer, mixed it up roughly 4x's recommended strength and wouldn't you know it I haven't noticed one flying insect around the ditch anymore. However every time I go out to check my mail I have a little twitch that acts up. Next up for the critters in the ditch will be a nice little treatment of glyphosate followed by someone throwing a cigarette out the window.

Yellow Jackets and bald face hornets have been bad this year. Those yellow jackets will sting you even if you let them along. The bald face hornets will not sting you unless you disturb them. Even then they might not. I've learned this year that I can use my hand the push the hornets away from the beehives and none have stung me.

I got swarmed, out ran all but one and it got me on the arm (july 4 of all days). Five days of arm swelling and a sprained ankle. Then, got stung on the top of the head by a wasp at my rental. Had the hornets under my deck fogged by a local company for $75 and they did it a second time, no charge. One of the hornets got in the house with me before I could get the door shut. Evil!

I like the permethrin. The stuff that I buy is the same concentration as what you got. There is good residual action if it doesn't get rained on. I have 2 ground nests of Yellow Jackets that will get dosed the next cold night.

My friend that tilled up my food plot ran into a ground hornet nest. He got hit twice. Needless to say he did not till close to the nest again.
Unfortunately the nest was close to where our drag was at. I took a big can of wasp and hornet spray up there when we went to plant. Woodmaster brought another drag just in case we couldn’t get to the old one.
Long story shortened..I did not see any hornets but i did find their hole. I hit it with a half can of the spray. Anything going in or out will die.
They are mean motor scooters for sure..

Gallon of gas and a match does the same plus you get the joy of watching them die in pain.

Ground bees must be really bad right now. Our lawn crews are running into problems with them almost daily. I stopped by the hardware store to get some spray and the owner said that he has sold more in the last week than the whole year.
I went to check a waterfall pump for a customer yesterday and there was a very active nest right where I needed to be. I hit them with some diesel.

I went to check a waterfall pump for a customer yesterday and there was a very active nest right where I needed to be. I hit them with some diesel. I came across a nest a couple of weeks ago and filled it full (with two cans worth) of spray. That nest seems to be inactive, but I still see the occasional bee flying around other areas of the back yard, so I figure there's another nest somewhere, but I've yet to find it. But when I do, I have three cans of spray waiting for them...

Those ground digger wasp (hornets), bald-face hornets and yellow jackets are bad this year. My honeybees attract the bald face and yell jackets.
