You know if they are hunting over water or more of a spot hunt I believe it’s all spot and stalk. Pretty well drive around glassing and when they spot one they want to go after they go after it. I’d like that I’ve seen a lot of places were they just hunt water holes nothing wrong it I’ve done it hunting lopes but with the time cost and logistics involved in hunt like that I’d like to see more than just a water hole. Even though hunting would be the end goal it would be nice to get out and see a bit of the land and area your hunting.

I don't know if I ever need to hunt there (I'm sure it would be awesome), but I need to see that country before I die.

Man, the kudu pic got me. Always really liked those animals. If I had a list that’s one near the top for sure.

My retired coworker went to So Africa 6 or 7 years ago. He had the mounts sent back to be handled here and they got tangled up in a mess. I think he said it was 4-5yrs and now 10's of thousands of dollars later to get everything in order. I do not know what the issues were other than the PH turned into a problem at the end of the hunt. No details otherwise.

The places there are different than the high fenced places here. You are talking places that are 1--'s of thousands of acres in size, and the high fences are more to keep the locals OUT than to keep the critters in. A buddy and his wife are going in a week or so, I believe the place is 175,000 acres.

Thats a great trip. Glad to see he got some good critters. I was supposed to go to SA with my friends from England in April 2021 but it got canceled. Not sure if we will make the trip at all now.

We had a great time in Africa! Diffently a trip to take your spouse on.
We had a 2 1/2 hour delay leaving Evansville due to weather in Chicago. That made us miss our next 3 flights so we ended up arriving a day late.
A lot of our hunting was driving around in a 4x4 truck on dirt/rock roads. We would stop and glass & if we saw something we liked we would stalk into range. Most of the game was very spooky and it was tough getting within 200-250 yards. Several days we would just take off walking and spot and stalk. The terrain varied from mountains to flat land. It reminded me a lot of eastern Wyoming. Most of the Kudu & Gemsbok were in the mountains.
The weather was pretty good. Most days the highs were 60-70 degrees and the lows were 35-45 degrees. Three days we had winds 25-30 mph. That made it easier stalking but tough on the long shots.
I was lucky enough to get all the animals I wanted except for an Impala. I saw several but they were either too small or had broken horns. I ended up shooting a Blue Wildebeest the last day instead of an Impala. My wifes cousin & his wife went with us. He ended up getting 5 animals. A Gemsbok, Zebra, Warthog, Blesbok & a Blue Wildebeest.
While hunting we also saw elephants, giraffes, rhinos & cape buffalo.
We hunted with Leopards Valley Safaris owned by Dave & Nikki Davenport. They are awesome! We felt like we were hunting with family. Our PH was Craig Done. Craig was very knowledgeable and work very hard.

Woodmaster and his wife came by the hose yesterday to give us all the details on their trip. Quite exciting trip they had. Woodmaster earned every animal! A couple of them were in almost straight up and down mountains. One morning his guide asked," You want to go for a walk?" It was some up and down and around and around, but they were rewarded with a nice critter - but I forget which one he said. The guide complimented Woodmaster on staying up with him. Woodmaster said it was all he could do!
