I pulled a dumb trick.. We almost always drive Momma's Prius wherever we go. 50 MPG versus the 4Runners 19 MPG.. My wife has MS and uses a walker to get around so we pack that around in the trunk of the Prius. The wheels were really getting the trunk carpet dirty so I bought a liner for the trunk. I backed the Prius out of the garage to clean the carpet before installing the liner. The carpet was wet so I thought I would let it dry before installing the liner. So I pulled the Prius back in the garage.. SCRAAAPPPPPE! I have had the hatch up before in the garage so I thought it would clear driving in. It didn't. The garage door popped my spoiler off. I took it to Kenny Kent's Toyota and they wanted $548 to install a new spoiler. Ouch!A good friend, and my Sunday School teacher, is a member of a British Car Club and he owns a shop in Boonville where they work on cars. He said he thought we could repair it. So I did a search on YouTube on Prius broken off spoilers and came up with this... www.youtube.com/watch?v=trJrhd090rsNothing to lose so we tried. Yep, it worked and I saved $548. I wasn't 100% sold on the melting the clip/bolt into the plastic block so I used a little smear of High Cotton's favorite stuff - JB Weld. That youtube link had another link that showed me how to take off and reinstall the hatch interior trim. Got to love YouTube... .

You fared better than a friend of mine. He tried to drive his Kubota RTV1100 into the garage. Only thing this particular garage has a garage door that is a foot lower than the other garage. Add another zero to your repair bill and that is what it took to fix the Kubota and the garage door is still badly boogered up.

My brother up in front of me had his garage door opener quit so he went and got another unfortunately it didn’t open the door as far as the other one did his van just fit in by a inch or two he backed his work van in and caught the door with the ladder rack ripping the door off the track and landing on top his van the door still has a slight bow and dent in it. We worked like fools to get a 18 x 8 door hung back up with rope to the track so we could get the van out . Another time I jumped in my truck hit the door opener like always when I remembered I had left the bills I wanted to mail jumped out got them out of the house jumped back in the truck guess what I did next hit the opener again like always the door started to come down and I started backing out put a big bend in the lower panel and a nice scrape on the top edge of the cab that one cost me about 1500 bucks to replace one panel and have the trucked fix

I use JB weld from time to time. Sometimes it holds sometimes it doesn't. Hope yours lasts 30 years!

I have no idea how fast he was going and wondered how he was going to get stopped in time once he was "in" the garage. I had to bring the trailer over and we took it to the Kubota dealer in Valpo. He hit the header and slid under it, whacking the garage door. I had to let the air our of the tires to get it back out - it was wedged in there pretty good!

I'm somewhat glad to see that I'm not the only big dummy when it comes to vehicles and garage doors. ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png)

Funny thing, one of our kids friends just dropped something down a wall in our camper behind a set of three drawers. Never had to take the drawers out before, so right to YouTube I went before someone broke something. A one minute video and we were good to go. Chalk another one up.

YOUTUBE has enabled me, like many others, to tackle, and accomplish, projects and repairs that I would never have attempted otherwise.

Was on a fishing trip at Lake Guntersville one year and the window regulator broke in my truck and the window wouldn’t go back up. We were headed back home the next day. First thing I said to my son was get on YouTube and find out how to get this door panel off so I can get the window back up. Minutes later he had the right video and we were back in business. No way I would have gotten that off without breaking something.
