Wow thats a long read. Got aboot 2/3rds thru it. I don't think I made it that far. Not sure why the writer thought they needed to write a book? Maybe they hope they would make a movie out of it. The old man had some demons that’s for sure. He must have stored the previous confrontation in the back of his head. Sad situation...

It's a public lake but people are very territorial about their duck hunting blinds and territories. They get nasty when an outsider starts hunting too close to them. Some families have maintained the same duck blinds on Reelfoot for generations.

There is more to the story. I'd imagine the ol man felt his time had come and was still a bit perturbed about the slight and cussing in front of the kid

I'm not really buying the dementia theory. People just don't go from "I think I have dementia" to murder in just a few days time.

True but depression mixed with the belief that he had dementia may have flipped his switch. I've seen depression and anxiety do some weird things to people. The whole situation sucks I just hope the families can find peace somewhere in all of this mess.

Read the whole thing (for the most part). The length is a bit ridiculous but it does leave you wondering about it all. Me personally I think the guy was mad about the confrontation earlier in the season, but I think the dementia amplified and misguided his actions and led to the tragedy.

Very interesting read, albeit long-winded. mental health issues can cause some crazy thoughts/feelings. No one really knows the reason behind it all. Tragic regardless.
