There's a turkey that lives in the woods next to my job near the Michigan City airport. Wanna say it was Wednesday or Thursday morning this past week I heard him gobbling like crazy just after daylight.

I can't say for sure but he's on property I don't have permission to be on.

The 80 acre field to my south. They are a little less than a 1/4 mike from me. Best I can tell there are 26 birds in this flock.

I still havent even seen a bird in LaPorte or St Joe county. Very odd.
No worry for the season as I hunt in either Marshall or Starke tho.

Haven't heard any gobbles but the pet turkey at the farm is calling her head off and laying down for anything that gets close to her.

Down to one hen and one Tom so far. The area has been clear out by coons, yotes, and bobcats. Hopefully, it swings back the other way this year.

Turkeys will be easy to spot this morning because they always stand out against the snow.

Yes they should be. We didn't get much here though. Barely a dusting.

Had one gobbling his head off right at dark last night not too far from my house. Every siren or coyote howl was answered.

Took family out for Easter brunch yesterday. Ended up driving the back roads to and fro to make a nice long and leisurely trip. Never saw a single turkey anywhere, in historically rich areas!!! A total shocker! I have yet to go to any of my hunting grounds still.

I'm not hunting turkey this year at my place. There are only two hens and two tom's left. It's amazing that it took about 5 years to go from 40 to 50 in the flock to 4. This is about the same time the bobcats showed up. The yotes also increased a lot the last few years. I guess eating all the moles which are feeding on the cicadas larvae.

I heard my first gobble of the season yesterday afternoon. I haven't been around home in the AM hours for a few weeks now though, so hard to get a good gauge on it.

I drove 7 miles at 6:45 am Central Time today. Saw about 12 strutters and maybe 30 hens in the fields.
