Thats how I do bobcat, cats choke out VERY easy. I actually wait for them to get glassy eyed, you have about 20 seconds for them to get their bearings back, fine line between choking out and dying when it comes to cats. Good job man..not sure I would have attempted that alone.

I do the same thing but even more manly. Every bear and mountain lion I've trapped, I jumped on their back and put em in a rear naked choke until they tapped and carefully removed the trap. Each and every one I trapped.

I know NOTHING about trapping. With that being said, does the trap not break any bones?
The video immediately reminded me of "catching" hogs to ring noses and cut teeth.

If set correctly it catches the pad of the foot that is the strongest part. If it caught high on the leg and breaks the bone they will get out minus a foot.

The traps are buried in dirt, so that slows them down too. They are designed NOT to break a bone because you want the animal to be in the trap when you arrive. You also put shock springs and swivels on the trap chain, so the animal doesn't get something solid to pull against, or if they run and hit the end of the chain it isn't a hard jerk. The swivels are there so they can't twist up the whole mess and lock up the spring.

I know a local trapper, a very skilled one, that got bit releasing a bobcat. He said afterwards he'd never do that again.

I can't find it now, but I remember seeing a YouTube video of a trapper releasing a bobcat and not using a catch pole. He used a 4'x4' or 4'x6' piece of plywood that had a small "window" cut out at the bottom and 2 handles screwed to the back side. He held the plywood in front of him, walked up the the trapped 'cat, putting the cat's shoulder against the plywood and the trapped foot on his side of the plywood thru the cut out "U" window on the bottom. Released the cat and it ran away - it couldn't see the trapper on the other side of the plywood.

I can’t find his video but found this one.. m.youtube.com/watch?v=ZU7RW1jikao

I'm sorry but if I ever got into trapping and caught something like that I would call out the co, swat team or whoever.
